Time's Up: Can Science Save Us?
Time's Up: Can Science Save Us?
I have written a book entitled Time's Up: Can Science Save Us? However, I had put the manuscript on one side, because I did not think there would be readers.
But the July 2021 UN High Level Political Forum (HLPF) was so pessimistic about the lack of progress by the UN Member States in responding to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the code red warnings in the Intergovernmental Panel On Climate Change (IPCC) Report published on August 9, 2021 that were so poorly reported by the media I decided to publish Time's Up: Can Science Save Us?
My hope is that the book will not only provide support for the scientists who are providing the evidence of human impact on the planet. I also hope the book shines a spotlight on the extraordinary efforts of the civil society Major Groups and other Stakeholders (MGoS) who participate in the yearly UN HLPFs, who are calling out the UN Member States for their dereliction of duty and abandonment of the people on the planet by not making any progress in addressing the 17 SDGs.
Most sections of the manuscript, which is 95% complete, have been peer reviewed by scientists in both the physical and social sciences, and by scholars in the humanities. The book is evidence based and you can trust the science.
Links to PDFs of both the proposal and the first chapter of the book are below. For your children's sake and for the generations we hope will come I would be grateful if you would read them.
If you have any thoughts on reaching one of the major publishers I would be grateful. It's a big challenge. I have access to academic publishers and support writers of conscience through my own philanthropic press, but I do not have access to the major trade publishers - which is where this book belongs. If you have any thoughts on this I would also appreciate them.
